The Legacy Machine FlyingT is the first (of hopefully many) featured ladies’ watches, not only for us, but also MB&F’s first three-dimensional horological art piece, specifically for women.
The flamboyant MB&F designs could often be considered bold statements of individuality, but nothing had been created for ladies until now, which is available in 3 editions, all in white gold and set with diamonds.
We are told that the story began around 4 years ago, when MB&F’s founder and designer Maximilian Büsser decided that he wanted to create something inspired by the women in his life.
The idea was to create an elegant piece, but with enough personality to captivate an audience on sight.
Maximilian Büsser summarises part of the thought process very eloquently:
I wanted LM FlyingT to possess the epitome of femininity as reflected by the women in my life, particularly my mother. It had to combine supreme elegance with tremendous vitality. The column-like structure of the flying tourbillon was very important to me as I felt very strongly that women form the pillar of humanity.
Face & case
The Legacy FlyingT appears neatly compact, at 38.5mm, the round case is in white gold, with a convex sapphire crystal dome, rising from a steeply cambered bezel. Peaking out beneath the dome, is a subtly curved dial plate, black with layers of stretched lacquer, or packed with beautiful white diamonds.
The heart of the LM FlyingT engine is a tourbillon (topped with a single diamond that spins with the tourbillon) and which projects high above the rest of the engine, a kinetic, dynamic column that stops just short of the apex of the sapphire crystal dome.
A dial of black or white lacquer that displays the hours and minutes with a pair of elegant serpentine hands in blued gold is situated at the 7 o’clock position. This dial is on an agle of 50° tilt to the face, so that the time can be read only by the wearer, which provides a unique degree of privacy for the wearers time.
The case back features a textured 3D red gold sun acting as an automatic winding rotor, which provides the LM FlyingT with 100 hours (4 days) of power reserve.
As with all MB&F pieces, the three dimensional movement is an in-house creation, with a central flying 60-second cinematic flying tourbillon being the centre piece, beating at a rate of 2.5Hz (18,000vph).
The 3D sun winding rotor is in 18k 5N+ red gold, titanium and platinum.
The Legacy FlyingT features 280 components and 30 jewels.
The strap is available in either alligator or cow leather, with 18k white gold pin buckle, set with even more diamonds.

The FlyingT is stunning – there is no other way to put it.
Regardless which edition you consider, the elegance has been so clearly thought out – the result is a beautiful, personal timepiece for the discerning lady who cherishes her time.
The weight is well balanced, almost featherweight, bearing in mind the weight of the diamonds alone.
All editions are priced at over 100,000 CHF, so it may not be a reality to purchase for everyone, however given the opportunity, I think there are very few ladies who would not want (or at least dream) to have on their wrist at least once.
As far as we are aware, this is not a limited edition, however it certainly is luxury piece regardless which edition is chosen.
